EPIC ( |ˈɛpɪk| )

• A long poem narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures.
• Heroic or grand in scale or character
• Particularly impressive or remarkable
• via Latin from Greek “epikos”, from epos ‘word, song’.

From the dawn of man, through Greek mythology to modern screenwriting, stories have always defined an important part of who we are. They are integral to human society, the sharing of thought and cultural advancement. For some of us, stories mean a break from the real world, a way towards better education or a form of entertainment. They permeate deep levels of our daily interaction, we read them constantly in the news, or we anxiously await the next episode of our favourite television series, the next book of our favourite author or the next instalment of that video game we just can’t seem to let go of.

Who’s to say we can’t enjoy a good, well written narrative? The truth is it’s rooted in our genes. We want to hear stories of people who succeed and rise against the challenges of life. Of epics telling the conflicts between nations and it’s heroes. Of songs and ballads of a destiny uncertain and the challenges that common people go through to rise and stand against it.

At EPIC I write these stories, and in the process, teach others how to write theirs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them!
